Getting Started
Login/Signup
To start using MapZ, you'll need to create an account or log in with existing credentials.
- Visit: https://mapz.network
- Create a new account or log in with your existing credentials.
Configuring Zabbix Server Settings
Before you can unlock the power of MapZ, you need to connect it to your Zabbix server(s).
- Click on "Zabbix Settings" (Look for the gear icon in the left sidebar)
- Fill in the required Zabbix server details:
- Server Name: A descriptive name for your server (e.g., "Production Zabbix")
- Zabbix API URL: (e.g., http://your_zabbix_server/zabbix/api_jsonrpc.php)
- Authentication Method: Username and Password or API
- Username: A Zabbix user with sufficient permissions
- Password: The password for the Zabbix user
- Zabbix API Key: The API key for authentication (if using API method). How to create API Key
- Click "Add Server"
MapZ will test the connection to your Zabbix server. If successful, you'll see the Zabbix version displayed.
tip
You can add multiple Zabbix servers, which is useful for visualizing distributed environments.
Security Tip
Consider creating a dedicated Zabbix user account for MapZ with limited permissions to minimize security risks.
Creating New Maps
Now it's time to build your first map!
- Click on "New Map" (Located at the top of the sidebar)
- Enter a descriptive "Map Name" (e.g., "Network Infrastructure Map," "Server Room Layout")
- Click "Save Map"
Your new map will appear in the sidebar, ready for customization.
After Creating your map, set your Zabbix Server for the map.
